On our morning walk on Monday, we were glad to see that the path through the field
was mostly down to bare ground and mostly clear of ice.
In the forest, the path was still icy, but you can actually see some bare ground now.
Monday afternoon, the sun was shining so we took a little break to go out and walk in the sunshine.
It was amazing to hear all the little birds singing. Can you see the one perched in the tree?
It is always a challenge to figure out what to have for dinner.
On Tuesday, the sun was shining for our morning walk,
we were excited to see that the sun was barely shining on the trees.
As we were heading home, 10 minutes later, you can see the sun fully on the trees!
Tuesday evening was knitting club. It was fun to have the Haaga sisters join us as well.
On our Wednesday morning walk, there was a pretty pink glow in the sky,
but this picture doesn't show it very well.
It was interesting because the walls around the tennis courts were covered with frost and so they look like opaque panels when they are actually clear.
This is how they were for the first several times that we went walking when we first arrived.
We got a new printer in the mission office on Wednesday. That was exciting, except that the men who delivered it said that they were just here to deliver and that someone else would install it.
A man called about the installation, but he said that it was going to be installed remotely from Germany and that we need to let him know when it had been installed so he could come and finish up.
It is really hard to run an office without a printer! We were glad that we still had the old one and plugged it back in so we could use it.
Elder Shurtz got a package delivered with parts for a new GeoTab tracking device for the van.
The old one taken out of the old van had not been working since it was installed in the new van.
The firesafe guy came to check out the office fire hose. I guess they do that once a year.
We knew we had a little cupboard door on the wall in case of fire,
but we didn't really know what it was or how to use it.
Apparently it is a very LONG fire hose with a nozzle on the end that twists to turn on the water. Another interesting thing about it is that he pointed out that the hose was made by Nokia in 1982.
Elder Shurtz had to take the van back to the dealer on Friday morning so it could be installed.
That meant that I was alone in the office most of the morning.
Someone from Germany called shortly after he got back to work on installing the new printer.
It took him 2 hours and 45 minutes to get all 5 of the computers configured properly
and hooked up to the new printer.
We had two packages that needed to be picked up on Friday. One at Posti and one at Taj Mahel.
I dreaded going to Taj Mahel because of our last experience there, and I knew that the one at Posti did not have the name of the church on it, so I was not thrilled about picking it up either.
We decided to just stop by both places on our way home from the office, which meant that we had our hands quite full already. I had my purse and our lunch bag with a package of the old tracking device parts that needed to be sent back to Germany. Steve had his briefcase and my backpack. The man seemed to have a difficult time locating the package. He finally went into a back room and came out with a huge heavy box. It was for an Elder and did not have the name of the Church on it.
He let us call the Elder and have him send an SMS message to him and then he released the package to us. We had to carry it from there. I put my back pack on my back and had my purse cross body on my shoulder and carried the lunch bag with the small package. Steve had his brief case and the box.
It was a relief when he found a shopping cart along the way before we got to Posti.
I was able to pick up the medium size package for a sister, and they did not seem concerned that it was not for me, as long as I could show them my ID. We were able to get the package sent off to Germany with just a bit of trouble trying to find the phone number for the recipient. We had found out earlier in the week that Posti at Sello is closing.
Picking up or sending packages is going to be a much bigger hassle after March 18th.
We also noticed another interesting sign of spring. At the mall there are two sets of doors, you walk in one set walk a couple of yards and then through the next set. There are 3 doors in each set. In the winter, the outside set has only the center door open and the inside set has the center door closed and the other two doors open. All three doors on both sets were open! I would not be surprised to find them alternating again if we get snow or lots of wind, but that will be a temporary thing instead of everyday.
On Saturday morning there was a baptism. Tristan was being baptized.
They took a group picture before the meeting started.
Tristan was so happy. I heard that he did not sleep well the night before because he was so excited!
Somehow, his smile got even bigger after the baptism. There was a sweet spirit there.
There was food afterwards, actually enough for a lunch. We got a picture with Tristan.
Tristan is from the Philippines.
Saturday was Sawyer's first birthday. We enjoyed visiting with him for a while.

We also got to meet Richard and Amy's new foster son who is just a month older than Sawyer.
We did all our usually p-day type things including grocery shopping and laundry.
We also enjoyed watching another episode of the most beautiful train routes - Wales.Sunday was a beautiful sunny day. It was cold, but felt so much warmer with the sun shining. I read a headline a couple of days ago that said Finnish Spring Delayed Due to Persistent Cold.
After Church there were sooo many people walking along the sea front and we could see people walking out on a walkway across the harbor. We decide to take a Sunday walk and go out there to see what it was like. There was a walkway over to an island (Uunisaari) there is a nice beachfront there and a walkway across to another area. It was interesting to see the jagged ice on the one side and the smooth ice on the other side. There were several people out on the smooth ice. Some seemed to be trying to play hockey with a big stick and ice pucks.
You can see it better from the two pictures taken from the walkway.

We thought that we might be able to find a different walkway that would take us over to where our car was parked so we kept walking. We saw many interesting things, but no way to get to the car except for over the ice. We opted not to do that so turned around and went back the way we came.
I liked to watch how some of the ice was breaking up on the ocean side.

Interesting tidbit:
I saw this photo on Noah's mission photos.I don' t know if you can see it, but at the bottom of the lock it says ABLOY Finland. We know that we see Abloy keys all the time, so I looked at the keys on my keyring. The two keys that I have on there are Abloy keys - one for our apartment and one for the mission office mailbox.
