iloista pääsiäistä

On Monday, Elder Weaver helped teach Elder Shurtz how to create a Google Survey.

On Tuesday, when we went for our walk, we walked the opposite way through the forest.
It is interesting how you see different things when you do that. We noticed several more shelter type things under the trees on the other side of the path that we had not seen before.
On Wednesday, we noticed that they had decorated the lobby for Easter.
Notice the pussywillow with decorative feathers attached.
One of the flowering cactus plants at the office has been blooming.  I think it is an Easter Cactus), but it just gets one of two blossoms at a time and then they die and fall off as a couple more are beginning to open. I noticed that the "Christmas" cactus has one blossom on it as well.
We noticed new signs in the elevators of our apartment building.
These little signs are wishing the residents a nice Easter.
On Thursday, the sun was shining for our morning walk and we saw the fox again this morning. If you look closely, you can see him in the center of the picture, right in front of the trees on the path of snow.
Thursday was our training at Return and Report at the mission home.
Elder Shurtz held his auto clinic in the garage as usual.
It was nice enough weather that we probably could have done it outside.
I had them play the game about the road signs in Finland.
I enjoyed seeing the little Easter things that Sister Lehtinen had placed around the home.

On Friday, we noticed that the soccer field is almost all green now.
There was even someone practicing soccer on it.
The pile of snow keeps getting smaller.
We noticed that the rental bike stand near the park now has bikes in it.
On the walk to the office, we saw that they had swept up the gravel on some of the walkways.
There is still some nasty looking black ice piles between the walkway and the road.
(Looking at this picture, it doesn't look nearly as black and disgusting as it looks in person!)
We found the pile of the gravel that had been swept up, along with some still melting snow/ice piles.
Saturday, was again a beautiful sunny day. It is amazing how much the sunshine lifts me spirits.
We wanted to get out and walk a bit in the sun. It was early afternoon by time we finally made it out.
I think it was about 48 degrees.
We got too sweaty with our coats on and finally just took them off for the remainder of our walk.
We were invited to the Uusitupa's home, along with the Mitchells and the young Elders and Sisters serving in our ward. The Mitchells were driving the Elders and we drove the Sisters.
The sky was blue and the clouds almost looked fake.
It was a beautiful 35 to 40 minute drive to their house.
We saw this interesting old building just a couple minutes before we got to their house.
We played a fun game, called fun facts.
There are questions such as "How many M&Ms can you fit in your mouth." Everyone has a plastic piece that they write their answer on and place upside down on the table. You try to place them in the order that you think everyone would have answered the question.
Then starting at the bottom, you turn over the answer and then the next one.
If it is in order you go on to the next, removing any that are not in order
and the remaining tiles are the collective points for the group.
It was a fun way to get to know each other a little bit better. We learned that Sister Mitchell can hold her breath for a very long time! Longer than anyone else who was there.
Sam Uusitupa took a fun picture of us from upstairs.
We had a delicious Easter dinner with Lamb, makara, grilled chicken, potato salad,
green salad (which I brought) chips and ice-cream for dessert.
The sisters gave us an Easter message.
Our hosts, Sam and Jussi Uusitupa.
We drove the sisters to their apartment and it was 8:00 by the time we dropped them off. The sky was dark, but not completely as we were driving home. It is sure nice to have more daylight!
We finally went on daylight savings time. (3 weeks later than the U.S.)
Easter Sunday was foggy, and a bit dreary to church. Quite a contrast to Saturday. If you look carefully, you can see that the ice is melting and there is a section of free water before you get to the island.
Elder Shurtz and I had been asked to speak in Church for Easter. We were asked to share our testimonies about Jesus Christ. There was also one other woman who had been asked to speak.
Just before I spoke, the primary sang "Gethsemane".
There were only 5 or 6 children who came up to sing.
I was impressed. They sounded amazing!
It was difficult to follow that song, but I felt like our talks were well received.

Sister Mitchell had invited us to join their watch party after church.
I think it was for young adults and for the friends of the missionaries.
We decorated eggs and ate while we watched "The Lamb of God".
I don't think there was very much watching going on, mostly visiting, but I think everyone enjoyed it.
