Car Swaps and Cold

We had lots of birthdays this past week. It actually started on Saturday 13 April with Noah's birthday. David's birthday was on Monday. He was not going to be available during our waking hours on his Monday, so we called him late last Sunday night (our time). We got to wish him a Happy Birthday and also got to visit with Kimberly and see Samuel who is growing fast!

We also got to talk to Scott on his birthday for a few minutes.
I got a picture of grandpa singing happy birthday to him.
We also talked to Kyler on his birthday, but it was bedtime for him and early morning for us.
We had just gotten up for the day and I didn't think about getting a picture.

When we went for our walk Monday morning, there were lots of sweeper trucks around.
We had to step aside so that this truck could pass us.
You can see from the walkway that the gravel is swept up on on a path as wide as the sweeper truck.
On Monday afternoon, Elder Shurtz met the Lohja Elders at the temple parking lot
to swap their car with one of the new cars.
One of the candies that we got when we found the bulk candies on sale last week was quite interesting. It is a mouse. It is kind of a dense marshmallow type body with a gummy worm type tail.
On our walk on Tuesday, it was quite a bit colder than it was the last week.
We did see some buds coming out on this little bush though.
I think that the forest starts looking quite fairytale like in the springtime.
This stump seemed like it would be a good house for fairies or gnomes.
The big pile of snow was mostly melted down to a pile of gravel. There is still snow under there though.
We received most of our Book of Mormon order on Monday morning, but one box was scheduled to arrive at our "home" between 4:30 pm and 10 pm. I was able to get it changed to come to our office. When it arrived, the box had arrived at the shipping facility damaged and they had taped it up.
On Wednesday morning, Steve made some monster cookies for us to take to Hyvinkää later that day.
I got an email from a mom wondering about a package that she had sent earlier to her daughter. I looked it up and it said that it was at a pickup point, at a locker and it needed to be picked up by today! But to get a code for the locker, you needed to sign in to your account. To create an account, we needed to sign in with our bank credentials, which we don't have. Steve finally decided to call posti. They sent us a code to pick it up, but he also asked them about the possibility of having it delivered since we have an account with them and pay them quite a bit to deliver our packages.
Eventually someone called us back and said that they would deliver it. We still haven't gotten the package. When I looked it up on Thurs., it said it had been returned to sender. We called again and were told that it would be intercepted and delivered. On Friday, Steve got another call saying there had been some problems, but it would be delivered on Monday. We hope that we see it on Monday!

After lunch, we locked the office and drove to the temple and picked up a new car
to drive up to Hyvinkää to swap cars with the elders.
Then we did an apartment inspection. The Kites had asked us if we could do that since they were not able to work out schedules with them the next day as they were starting their inspection travels.
There was quite an amazing Jesus wall in this apartment.
We left some cookies with the Elders and got a picture with them.
On Thursday we made another car swap. We got to the temple (where the new cars are parked)
a bit before the Elders got there. There was an interesting bird chirping.
I saw it in the tree and was able to get a picture of it.
I wished that I had our good camera!
Not just for the bird, but also for getting pictures of the temple.
It was a beautiful day, but very cold!
It didn't stop me from taking pictures though.

The Elders were excited to get a new car!
On Friday, Steve had to take our car to the dealer to get its oil changed
and whatever other service they do on it.
There was a Stake Sisters Relief Society event in the Haaga chapel on Saturday.
There was a good turnout and it was a nice event.
Our temperatures this week have been just above freezing for the high during the day
and below freezing at night. There was more snow on Saturday and a bit more on Sunday.
Steve was glad that we still had our winter tires on.
We were invited with the other missionaries to the Angelosanto's home for Sunday dinner.
